The 3M 3500280 is a twin-leg, personal self-retracting lifeline (SRL) engineered for ANSI Class 2 foot-level tie-off and leading edge applications. The compact thermoplastic housing is worn on the worker's back, keeping the unit out of the way during active tasks. A quick-activating, speed-sensing brake system arrests a fall within inches, providing meaningful protection even at low working heights. A built-in connector allows direct attachment to most full-body harnesses, and a high-capacity external energy absorber with an impact indicator confirms when a fall event has occurred. Licensed contractors and safety professionals working in construction and general industry install and inspect this unit.
This SRL is suited for construction jobsites where leading edge and foot-level tie-off are required. The twin-leg configuration supports 100 percent tie-off, allowing a worker to remain continuously connected while transitioning between anchor points. Tension is maintained on the lifeline during normal movement, which reduces the chance of drag and trip hazards on the work surface. The unit can also function as a lanyard replacement where the application and anchor configuration allow, giving crews flexibility across multiple task types.
Designed for direct connection to most full-body harnesses; suitable for overhead anchor mounting or harness dorsal ring attachment in leading edge and foot-level tie-off applications.
Installation and inspection should be performed by a competent person as defined under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.32. Power down or isolate any equipment in the work zone before attaching or adjusting fall protection. Inspect the lifeline, housing, energy absorber, and connectors before each use and remove the unit from service immediately if the impact indicator has been activated. Refer to the manufacturer instruction manual for anchor strength requirements and system compatibility before use.
