The 3M 3100516 is a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) designed for fall protection in elevated work environments. The unit extends and retracts with the worker during movement, and a speed-sensing brake system activates automatically during a fall, arresting descent and reducing forces on the user to safe levels. A swiveling anchorage connector loop and integrated carabiner are built in, eliminating the need for a separate connector at the anchor point. At 6.11 pounds, the housing is compact enough to carry to the job site via the integrated handle. This SRL is installed by qualified safety personnel or competent persons as defined under applicable fall protection regulations.
This unit is suited for general industry and construction applications where overhead anchorage points are available. The 20-foot lifeline length accommodates most standard elevated work scenarios including roof work, structural steel, elevated platforms, and similar tasks. The constant tension maintained on the lifeline reduces dragging, snagging, tripping, and slack-induced fall hazards. The swiveling anchorage connection allows the worker to move laterally without twisting the lifeline or connector.
Designed for use as an overhead-mounted self-retracting lifeline in standard fall arrest systems. Compatible with full-body harnesses featuring a dorsal D-ring connection point. Consult the product manual for specific anchorage strength requirements before installation.
Installation must be performed by a competent person as defined by OSHA 29 CFR 1926.32 or applicable jurisdiction standards. The anchorage point must meet the minimum strength requirements specified in the product documentation before attaching the SRL. Disconnect the unit from the anchorage and remove the worker from service before performing any inspection or maintenance. Never modify the housing, lifeline, or connector components.
