The 3M 21200-24391 is a clear, double-sided, pressure-sensitive acrylic tape from the VHB Tape 4905 series, supplied on a PE film liner. At 20 mil thick and 0.5 inches wide on a 72-yard roll, it delivers a conformable bond to high surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many plastics. The acrylic adhesive construction provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance alongside strong holding power. Weighing 1.3 pounds per roll, it is suited for assembly, mounting, and bonding applications in manufacturing, glazing, signage, and building panel work. It carries a UL 746C listing, confirming suitability for use with polymeric materials.
This tape is used in applications requiring a clean, invisible bond line with no visible fasteners. Typical scenarios include attaching architectural panels, mounting trim, bonding nameplates, and securing display components. The 72-yard roll length supports production-line use and reduces roll changeover frequency. Trades and assembly technicians working on commercial glazing, sign fabrication, electronics assembly, and general industrial bonding are the primary installers.
Designed for bonding high surface energy substrates such as metals, glass, and many rigid plastics. Best performance is achieved on clean, dry, properly prepared surfaces. Not recommended for low surface energy plastics such as polyethylene or polypropylene without a surface primer.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum bond strength — clean substrate surfaces with an appropriate solvent wipe and allow to dry fully before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape after placement to ensure full adhesive contact. Allow dwell time at room temperature before placing the assembly under full service load. Follow applicable building codes and substrate manufacturer guidelines when using adhesive tape in structural or load-bearing panel applications.
