The 3M 1401218 is a full-body climbing and positioning safety harness designed for work-at-height applications in industrial and construction environments. Built with 6,000-pound-rated polyester webbing and robust alloy steel hardware, it provides reliable fall arrest performance in demanding field conditions. A nylon and polyester hybrid comfort padding system reduces fatigue during extended wear. The anti-slide dorsal D-ring plate design limits D-ring migration and positions an integrated SRL adapter for fast connection and disconnection of personal self-retracting lifelines. Suspension trauma relief straps with a low-profile design are included. This harness is sized for X-Large wearers and is intended for installation and use by qualified fall protection professionals.
The 1401218 is suited for climbing and positioning tasks in residential and commercial construction, industrial maintenance, utility, and tower work. It fits into fall protection systems where both arrest and positioning capability are required at the same anchor point. The integrated SRL adapter simplifies rigging by allowing a personal SRL to be attached directly at the dorsal connection without additional hardware. Suspension trauma straps are included for post-arrest situations where prompt rescue may be delayed.
Designed as an OEM-style full-body harness for use within compliant personal fall arrest systems meeting applicable ANSI Z359 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M requirements. Specific system compatibility should be verified against the manufacturer documentation for the dorsal D-ring and SRL connector ratings in use.
Donning and fit adjustment must be performed by the wearer prior to each use following the manufacturer inspection and donning procedure. A competent person should inspect the harness before every shift for webbing wear, hardware function, and stitching integrity. Fall protection systems must be anchored per applicable OSHA and ANSI requirements before work begins. Do not alter, cut, or field-repair any webbing or hardware component.
