The 3M 1112587 is a full-body tower climbing safety harness designed for telecommunications, utility, and broadcast tower work where fall protection and positioning capability are required simultaneously. Built around an aluminum frame, the harness includes back, front, side, and shoulder D-rings, giving technicians multiple anchor points for fall arrest and work positioning. Tongue buckle leg straps provide a secure, repeatable fit, and the integrated waist pad and belt add comfort during extended climbs. A removable seat sling with positioning D-rings supports suspension work at height. The harness is rated for a weight capacity of 420 lbs and weighs approximately 11.99 pounds.
This harness is intended for professional tower climbers, telecommunications riggers, and utility line workers operating on lattice towers, monopoles, or similar elevated steel structures. The multiple D-ring configuration supports connection of lanyards, positioning lanyards, and self-retracting lifelines at the back, front, and sides, accommodating complex climbing and positioning sequences common in tower work. The size Large fit is suited to workers falling within the harness manufacturer sizing range for that designation. Installation and donning is performed by the end user prior to ascending the structure.
Designed as an OEM-specification full-body fall arrest and positioning harness for use with ANSI Z359-compliant fall protection systems in tower climbing applications.
Donning and adjustment must be performed by a competent person trained in fall protection per OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M and ANSI Z359 standards. Inspect the harness for wear, cuts, corrosion on hardware, and stitching integrity before each use. Connect only to anchor points and connectors rated for fall arrest loads. Never modify, field-repair, or continue using a harness that has arrested a fall.
