3M FIP1-STEP is a fire barrier rated foam designed to expand effectively when dispensed. This two-part urethane foam is recognized for its ability to provide smoke, sound, and firestopping capabilities. It meets safety standards with firestop testing up to two hours as per ASTM E 814 (UL 1479) and CAN/ULC S115.
Upon application, this foam cures rapidly, reaching its maximum expansion within approximately two minutes, and can swell up to five times its original size. Its formulation ensures that it foams in place without sagging, which creates an effective firestop seal by sealing the gaps around penetrations such as pipes and cables.
