The male iron pipe thread (MIPT) end connection allows the plug to thread directly into a female-threaded fitting or pipe end, creating a secure, pressure-rated closure. Made from PVC, this plug is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and well-suited for water, irrigation, and low-pressure fluid handling applications. At 0.38 pounds, it is easy to handle and install in tight spaces. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters use this type of fitting for capping off unused branch connections, pressure testing, and system winterization.

This plug is intended for use in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where Schedule 40 PVC piping is standard. Common applications include capping open tees during phased construction, isolating unused ports on manifolds, and temporarily or permanently sealing branch lines in potable water, drain, and irrigation systems. The 2-inch size accommodates a common pipe dimension found throughout residential and commercial supply and drainage rough-in work.

Key Features

2-inch MIPT end connection threads into standard female-threaded Schedule 40 fittings

Schedule 40 PVC construction provides adequate pressure rating for typical low-pressure plumbing service

Corrosion-resistant PVC material suits water, irrigation, and non-aggressive fluid applications

Lightweight at 0.38 pounds for easy single-hand installation

Clean plug profile allows use in tight or recessed fitting locations

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit plug for Schedule 40 PVC piping systems using 2-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connections.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipe fitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply an approved thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before tightening. Hand-tighten first, then snug with a strap wrench or pipe wrench — do not overtighten PVC threads, as the material can crack under excessive torque.

Technical Specifications

Fitting Type: Plug

Fitting Size: 2 inches

Material: PVC

End Connection: MIPT

Schedule: 40

Weight: 0.38 pounds

Standard Information

Brand: VALUE COLLECTION

Manufacturer Part Number: 450-020
