Manufactured to CMR (Communications Multipurpose Cable, Riser) standards, this cable is suitable for vertical runs between floors where fire-retardant performance is required by code. The yellow jacket aids in visual identification during installation and service. Sold in a 1000-foot box, it provides enough run length for most commercial or multi-zone residential projects without mid-run splices.

This cable is well suited for HVAC thermostat wiring, zone control systems, and low-voltage building controls in residential and light commercial construction. Electricians and HVAC technicians commonly use CMR-rated cable for in-wall and through-floor control wiring where local codes mandate riser-rated products. The 4-conductor configuration supports standard thermostat communication including heating, cooling, fan, and common circuits.

Key Features

CMR (Riser) rating meets NEC requirements for vertical cable runs between floors

24 AWG, 4-conductor construction suits standard HVAC thermostat and zone control wiring

CAT5 data-grade construction provides consistent electrical characteristics for control signal integrity

Yellow PVC jacket allows quick visual identification in multi-cable installations

1000-foot box quantity reduces the need for mid-run splices on longer runs

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use riser control cable for low-voltage HVAC thermostat and zone control wiring applications in residential and light commercial systems.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with NEC Article 800 and applicable local codes. Power down all low-voltage control circuits before making connections. CMR-rated cable is approved for riser runs but is not a substitute for plenum-rated (CMP) cable in air-handling spaces. Avoid sharp bends, staple over-compression, and contact with high-voltage wiring to preserve signal integrity.

Technical Specifications

Conductor Size: 24 AWG

Number of Conductors: 4

Cable Category: CAT5

Fire Rating: CMR (Riser)

Jacket Color: Yellow

Length: 1000 feet

Unit of Measure: EA (Box)

Quantity Per Unit: 1

Standard Information

Brand: SUPERIOR ESSEX

Manufacturer Part Number: 52-240-65
