Constructed from 316 stainless steel banding and rubber gasket material, this coupling handles a working pressure of 4.3 psi and an operating temperature range of -30 to 140 degrees F. It is installed by licensed plumbers during new construction, renovation, or repair of residential and commercial DWV systems. The four-band design provides increased clamping force and joint stability compared to standard two-band couplings, making it appropriate for demanding applications.

This coupling is sized for 3-inch no-hub pipe on both ends, making it suitable for drain, waste, and vent piping in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. Typical install scenarios include connecting sections of cast iron soil pipe, transitioning between compatible pipe materials, and repairing existing no-hub joints. Its heavy-duty classification suits applications where additional joint strength and vibration resistance are required, such as below-slab or in-wall installations where access after installation is limited.

Key Features

4-band stainless steel clamp design for increased joint clamping force and stability

316 stainless steel bands provide corrosion resistance in wet and underground environments

Rated working pressure of 4.3 psi suitable for gravity DWV applications

Operating temperature range of -30 to 140 degrees F covers standard indoor and underground service conditions

3-inch no-hub connection on both ends for symmetrical pipe joining

Compact body dimensions for installation in confined spaces

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation no-hub coupling for 3-inch drain, waste, and vent piping systems requiring a heavy-duty 4-band connection.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off water flow and verify the pipe is dry and clean before installing. The manufacturer specifies a heavy-duty installation torque of 80 inch-pounds; use a calibrated torque screwdriver or torque wrench to achieve proper clamp seating without over-tightening. Inspect the rubber gasket for proper seating around the pipe before final torque is applied.

Technical Specifications

Connection Size (Both Ends): 3 inches

Connection Type: No-Hub

Number of Bands: 4

Working Pressure: 4.3 psi

Temperature Range: -30 to 140 degrees F

Installation Torque (Heavy-Duty): 80 inch-pounds

Band Material: 316 Stainless Steel

Gasket Material: Rubber

Height: 3.25 inches

Length: 3.9 inches

Width: 3.85 inches

Weight: 0.585 pounds

Standard Information

Brand: MIDLAND INDUSTRIES

Manufacturer Part Number: 970832

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/4519/9983/files/d5f1dec5b500a0fd3fb1c09bb849f132_329c03d5-6256-450e-bd81-7d7dd2b457e9.jpg?v=1791721527
