Threaded with a 1/2 inch male pipe thread (MPT) connection, this plug is used to close off open pipe ends in gas, air, and steam distribution systems. The malleable iron body resists impact and thermal stress better than cast iron, making it a reliable choice for permanent or semi-permanent pipe terminations. At 0.08 pounds, it is compact and easy to handle in tight spaces. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this fitting wherever a threaded pipe end needs to be sealed securely.

This plug is suited for residential and light commercial black iron pipe systems, including natural gas supply lines, propane distribution, compressed air headers, and low-pressure steam applications. It is commonly installed at tee branches reserved for future connections, unused appliance ports, or test points after pressure checks. The 150-pound pressure rating aligns with standard malleable iron fitting schedules used throughout the trade.

Key Features

Square head drive allows installation and removal with a wrench for reliable torque without slippage

1/2 inch MPT thread mates with standard 1/2 inch female-threaded pipe fittings and valves

Malleable iron construction provides superior ductility and impact resistance compared to cast iron

Black finish and 150-pound rating consistent with standard black iron gas piping systems

Compact footprint: 1 inch length, 0.85 inch height, 0.75 inch width

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 1/2 inch female NPT threaded connections in black 150-pound malleable iron piping systems.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or HVAC technicians working on gas or pressurized piping systems. Shut off the gas supply or depressurize the line before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply an appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before threading the plug into place.
