Built around a 12-inch neck, it mounts in a standard 24 x 24 inch ceiling grid opening and connects to a VAV terminal unit to deliver conditioned air at controlled flow rates. The diffuser coordinates airflow distribution with the VAV controller, allowing zone-level temperature management without separate supply grilles. At 20 pounds, the unit is substantial enough for fixed ceiling installation and requires proper support during mounting. HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors are the primary installers for this type of equipment.

The VD-12-SD is suited for commercial office spaces, classrooms, medical facilities, and other occupied zones served by VAV air handling systems. Its 24 x 24 inch face plate integrates flush with standard lay-in ceiling tile grids, making it a common specification in new construction and retrofit VAV projects where zone-by-zone airflow control is required. The 12-inch neck diameter accommodates round duct connections standard to VAV terminal unit discharge outlets.

Key Features

12-inch neck diameter for direct connection to VAV terminal unit discharge

24 x 24 inch face fits standard commercial lay-in ceiling grid openings

Auxiliary diffuser configuration supports VAV zone airflow distribution

Substantial 20-pound construction suitable for fixed ceiling installation

Overall depth of 26 inches accommodates above-ceiling plenum clearance requirements

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style auxiliary VAV diffuser for commercial HVAC systems using VAV terminal units with 12-inch round discharge connections installed in standard 24 x 24 inch lay-in ceiling grid systems.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or mechanical contractor familiar with VAV air distribution systems. De-energize and lock out the air handling unit before making duct connections, and verify that the above-ceiling plenum provides adequate clearance for the 26-inch depth of the unit. Secure the diffuser to the duct and ceiling grid per the manufacturer instructions and applicable mechanical codes before restoring airflow. Do not operate the VAV system at this zone until all duct connections are sealed and the ceiling grid is fully supported.

Technical Specifications

Face Size: 24 x 24 inches

Neck Diameter: 12 inches

Width: 11.25 inches

Height: 25 inches

Depth: 26 inches

Weight: 20 pounds

Standard Information

Brand: IO HVAC CONTROLS

Manufacturer Part Number: VD-12-SD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/4519/9983/files/e5d2a1268d3d579649fcd7002143a2cc_7cd7ea29-3815-4711-82e0-45f75da64f88.png?v=1791665014
