Machined from aluminum, this jaw measures 8 inches wide, 2.5 inches high, and 1.25 inches thick. The soft aluminum construction protects finished or delicate workpiece surfaces from marring, denting, or scoring during clamping operations. It is a fixed jaw configuration, meaning it mounts to the stationary jaw face of the vise. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians install this type of jaw when grip protection is the priority over raw clamping aggression. At 5.047 pounds, this is a solid, full-width replacement.

This jaw is suited for use in machine shops, fabrication shops, and maintenance environments where workholding on an 8-inch bench vise is routine. The flat jaw profile handles stock, bar, plate, and shaped workpieces that require even clamping across the full jaw face. It is appropriate for both production and toolroom settings. The aluminum material makes it a practical choice when clamping softer metals, plastics, or pre-finished parts where steel jaw faces would cause surface damage.

Key Features

Soft aluminum construction protects workpiece surfaces from jaw marks and deformation

Flat jaw profile provides even clamping pressure across the full 8-inch width

Fixed jaw design for mounting to the stationary jaw face of compatible vises

8 inches wide by 2.5 inches high by 1.25 inches thick for a full-coverage replacement fit

Lightweight aluminum reduces added mass to the vise assembly

Compatibility

Designed as a replacement soft jaw for 8-inch bench vises. Power down any associated equipment and secure the vise before removing existing jaw hardware. Follow the vise manufacturer fastener pattern and torque guidance as specified in their service documentation. Do not overtighten fasteners into the aluminum jaw body, as the material is softer than steel and threads can strip if excessive force is applied.

Technical Specifications

Jaw Width: 8 inches

Jaw Height: 2.5 inches

Jaw Thickness: 1.25 inches

Jaw Shape: Flat

Jaw Movement Type: Fixed

Hard/Soft: Soft

Material: Aluminum

Vise Compatibility: 8-inch vises

Weight: 5.047 pounds

Package Quantity: 1

Standard Information

Brand: GIBRALTAR

Manufacturer Part Number: 428-1072
