Built from durable rubber, it accommodates a 6-inch pipe on one end and a 5-inch pipe on the other, making it a practical solution for transition connections where rigid fittings cannot be used. Licensed plumbers and drain-system installers rely on this type of coupling when connecting dissimilar pipe materials or sizes during repairs, retrofits, or new rough-in work.

This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications, particularly in DWV systems where a flexible, watertight transition between pipe segments is needed. It is commonly installed in below-grade drain lines, stack connections, and sewer lateral repairs where pipe sizes do not match and a rigid fitting is not feasible. Its rubber construction allows for slight misalignment tolerance during installation.

Key Features

Transitions between 6-inch and 5-inch pipe diameters in a single fitting

Flexible rubber construction accommodates minor pipe misalignment

Suitable for DWV drainage, waste, and vent piping systems

No special tools required for basic installation - stainless steel band clamps typically secure the coupling

Compact overall footprint at approximately 7.01 inches x 7.01 inches x 5.98 inches

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style flexible transition coupling for residential and commercial DWV piping systems requiring a 6-inch to 5-inch pipe size reduction connection.

Installation Notes

Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off water flow and ensure the pipe ends are clean, deburred, and free of debris before sliding the coupling into position. Tighten band clamps evenly to the torque range specified by the coupling manufacturer to achieve a proper seal. Do not exceed the coupling's rated pipe size range or use it on pressurized supply lines.

Technical Specifications

Material: Rubber

Pipe Size (End 1): 6 inches

Pipe Size (End 2): 5 inches

Overall Dimensions: 7.01 inches x 7.01 inches x 5.98 inches

Standard Information

Brand: FERNCO

Manufacturer Part Number: 1056-65
