It connects a 3/8-inch female port to a 1/4-inch female port, reducing line size within a threaded piping system. The NPTF thread form creates a pressure-tight mechanical seal without relying solely on thread sealant. Rated to 1,200 psi maximum working pressure, this coupling suits high-pressure fluid and gas distribution lines in industrial, HVAC, plumbing, and compressed-air applications. A licensed plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician is the typical installer.

This coupling is used wherever a threaded piping system requires a reduction from 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch female NPTF connections. Common applications include compressed-air distribution, hydraulic lines, fuel supply systems, and general industrial fluid handling. The all-brass construction resists corrosion in both wet and dry service environments, making it suitable for residential and light commercial mechanical rooms as well as industrial plant piping.

Key Features

NPTF thread form provides a pressure-tight mechanical seal on both ports

1,200 psi maximum working pressure rating for demanding fluid and gas systems

Reducing configuration: 3/8-inch female to 1/4-inch female thread

Solid brass construction for corrosion resistance in wet and dry service

UNSPSC classified under pipe fittings (40175305) for procurement compatibility

Compatibility

Designed as a standard FNPTF reducing coupling for threaded piping systems using National Pipe Taper Fuel thread fittings. Compatible with any 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch NPTF-threaded pipe or component conforming to that thread standard.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC codes. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. NPTF threads are designed to seal on the thread form itself; apply thread sealant or PTFE tape per the system fluid compatibility requirements and the fitting manufacturer's guidelines. Avoid over-torquing brass fittings, as the material can crack under excessive force.

Technical Specifications

Fitting Type: Coupling (Reducing)

Female Thread Size: 3/8 x 1/4 inches

Thread Standard: NPTF

Connection Type: FNPTF

Maximum Working Pressure: 1,200 psi

Material: Brass

Weight: 0.1 pounds

UNSPSC Code: 40175305

Standard Information

Brand: CERROBRASS

Manufacturer Part Number: 119A-CB
