Measuring 3 inches in nominal pipe size and 5 inches in overall length, this Schedule 40 nipple is threaded on both ends for quick, secure connections to fittings, valves, or adjacent pipe runs. The hot-dip galvanized zinc coating provides corrosion resistance in wet or exposed environments. At 2.8 pounds, it carries the wall thickness and pressure rating expected of Schedule 40 carbon steel pipe components. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.

This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing rough-in work, gas distribution piping, water supply lines, and mechanical room installations where threaded steel pipe is specified. Its 3-inch nominal size makes it appropriate for main distribution runs, branch headers, and equipment connections requiring a mid-range pipe diameter. The 5-inch length accommodates close-to-intermediate spacing between fittings where a close or short nipple would be insufficient.

Key Features

3-inch nominal pipe size, Schedule 40 wall thickness

5-inch overall length for intermediate fitting spacing

Threaded on both ends for standard NPT connections

Galvanized steel construction for corrosion resistance in wet or exposed environments

Consistent wall thickness meets Schedule 40 pressure rating requirements

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use fitting compatible with Schedule 40 threaded steel pipe systems using 3-inch NPT fittings, couplings, valves, and flanges.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system fully before removing or installing threaded nipples. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads before assembly and tighten with a properly sized pipe wrench. Do not over-tighten, as this can crack fittings or distort threads.

Technical Specifications

Nominal Pipe Size: 3 inches

Length: 5 inches

Schedule: 40

Thread Size: 3 inches NPT

Thread Type: Threaded both ends

Material: Galvanized Steel

Weight: 2.8 pounds

Standard Information

Brand: BK MUELLER

Manufacturer Part Number: 570-050BC
