This disc measures 6 inches in diameter, carries a 240 grit rating in the very fine grade range, and uses aluminum oxide as the cutting mineral. The C-weight paper backing delivers a balance of flexibility and support, making it well suited for contour sanding and finish work. Each disc mounts quickly to a PSA-compatible backup pad without hardware. The series 236U construction is rated up to 12,000 RPM. Sold in a box of 100 discs.

These discs are used in light material removal, blending, and final-stage surface preparation on wood, metal, and painted surfaces. The gold-colored, flexible paper backing conforms to mild curves, making them a practical choice for cabinet shops, auto body prep, and general metal finishing. No vacuum holes are present, so they are intended for solid backup pads rather than random orbital sanders with dust-extraction ports. Machinists, fabricators, woodworkers, and finishing technicians are the primary installers and users of this consumable abrasive.

Key Features

240 grit aluminum oxide abrasive for very fine material removal and surface blending

PSA mounting system for fast, tool-free disc changes on compatible backup pads

C-weight paper backing provides flexibility for contoured and flat surface work

Rated to 12,000 RPM for use with standard right-angle and orbital disc sanders

No vacuum holes — designed for solid or non-perforated backup pads

Pack of 100 discs reduces changeout downtime on high-volume jobs

Compatibility

Designed for use with PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) backup pads accepting 6-inch abrasive discs. Confirm the backup pad is clean and free of adhesive residue before applying a new disc to ensure full adhesive contact. Do not exceed the 12,000 RPM maximum speed rating. Dispose of worn discs promptly — a disc that has lost its adhesive bond mid-operation can become a hazard.

Technical Specifications

Disc Diameter: 6 inches

Grit: 240

Grade: Very Fine

Abrasive Material: Aluminum Oxide

Backing Material: Paper

Backing Weight: C

Disc Color: Gold

Maximum RPM: 12,000

Vacuum Holes: No

Flexible: Yes

Series: 236U

Quantity per Pack: 100 discs

Package Weight: 1.09 pounds

Package Dimensions: 7.45 x 3.7 x 3.7 inches

Standard Information

Brand: 3M

Manufacturer Part Number: 7000119557
