The disc measures 24 inches in diameter and carries a 50-grit aluminum oxide abrasive, placing it in the coarse grade range. An X-weight cloth backing provides the rigidity and durability needed to hold up under heavy stock removal. The maroon disc mounts via a PSA backing directly to compatible platens, eliminating the need for mechanical fasteners and allowing for fast changeovers in production environments. Licensed HVAC sheet-metal shops, fabrication facilities, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers.

This disc is designed for use on bench-top motors and random orbital sanders where large-diameter PSA discs are required. The flexible construction allows the disc to conform slightly to workpiece contours while still delivering consistent cut on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. With no vacuum holes, this disc is intended for open-faced platens or applications where dust extraction is handled externally. It is sold individually and ships as a single disc per package.

Key Features

24-inch diameter suits large bench-top and orbital sanding platforms

50-grit aluminum oxide delivers coarse, high-rate stock removal

X-weight cloth backing resists tearing and flexing under load

PSA mount allows tool-free disc changes on compatible platens

Flexible construction adapts to moderate workpiece contours

No vacuum holes — designed for open-face platen use

Compatibility

Compatible with bench-top motors and random orbital sanders that accept 24-inch PSA-backed abrasive discs on open-face platens.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by fabrication or maintenance technicians familiar with large-format abrasive equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before removing the spent disc or mounting a new one. Ensure the platen surface is clean and free of adhesive residue before applying the PSA backing to achieve full contact and prevent disc slippage during operation. Follow the equipment manufacturer's operating speed rating and do not exceed the maximum RPM specified for the disc diameter.

Technical Specifications

Disc Diameter: 24 inches

Grit: 50

Grade: Coarse

Abrasive Material: Aluminum Oxide

Backing Material: Cloth

Backing Weight: X

Disc Color: Maroon

Attachment Type: Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive (PSA)

Vacuum Holes: No

Flexible: Yes

Machine Compatibility: Bench Top Motors, Random Orbital Sanders

Package Quantity: 1

Weight: 1.56 pounds

Standard Information

Brand: 3M

Manufacturer Part Number: 7000118900

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/4519/9983/files/258d69ceb41c42a55ad7195633ff2c64_8429ff5b-580b-4325-98cd-83393f700596.jpg?v=1788600548
